Sipping lattes and becoming overly caffeinated at Peet’s, I became a bit brash and impulsive this past Tuesday. I had this incredible need to be a legit blogger, so I decided I had to ditch the “can i have a word with you?” extremely long blog title with unmatching URL (www.jvaron.com) and go onto the greener pastures. I brainstormed with myself, trying to think of a name. Everytime I thought of a great name, I got very excited, then Googled said name, and it was, of course taken. Or, the only URL left to use was www.blogname1245.biz. Tempting.
Finally, I settled on “intersected,” which I love so much that I keep randomly going to my blog and looking at it. I’m proud. Beaming, in fact.
However, on Tuesday, I decided I knew how to code myself (I don’t) and thought, “Oh, I can change my blog URL, Wordpress will get it.” Wordpress did not get it. I did something ridiculous (details unnecessary) and, all of a sudden, it seemed like my entire blog had vanished. I was inconsolable. Panicking. Heart racing. Tears forming. WHAT HAD I DONE!?
I quickly IMed my friend Jessica, who then sent out a PANIC TWEET to her Twitter community (much more sizable than mine). Within seconds (not minutes, not hours, not annoying automated, please press 1 for tech. support), I had about five people who wanted to help me restore my blog. A friend of Jessica’s ended up going into my hosting panel and completely restored me.
Twitter truly has become the most amazing tool. One can use it for fun. One can use it for tech support, like I did. One can use it to promote their blog, business, little Fluffy’s house broken, or what not. The microblogging platform has revolutionized the way we are communicating and I’m on board.
Twitter, 100%, saved my blog and probably saved me from going into anaphylactic shock. Wow, I spelled anaphylactic right on the first try… weird.
How are all of you using Twitter? Any great Twitter success stories?

Love the new blog! Glad everything’s fixed and working ok
@Nisha – Thanks! I’m excited to have a blog I’m proud of. And, thank god for Twitter.
Thank you for commenting. =)
That tweet from Jessica is how I actually found out about your blog. It’s been great reading your stuff and the new layout is fantastic. Also your new twitter background that goes along with the blog theme is a nice touch.
@Derek – Thank you so much. I appreciate that you are reading and enjoying my blog! I hope I can continue to write posts that you want to read. =)
I just started twitter again after a long absence. It got me hooked
Oh, I’m so hooked! It’s ridiculous!
Thanks for the comment..
I love the power of the Panic Tweet. My twitter network has saved my ass so many times for IT issues at work. It had to be fixed and our IT guy told me he didn’t know how. Five minutes later, my panic tweet saved the day.
Twitter will replace all tech support? I hope so!
Thanks for stopping by Dorie!
I’m still trying to figure Twitter out. None of my non-blogger friends have it and so I don’t have anybody I can bounce ideas off of. We’ll see how it goes!
Bounce ideas off of me! =)
Comments on sexual tension have led me to your fine blog. I am still a ‘noob’ in the twitter community, but in the month or so that I have been a member, it has already proved to be much more valuable than any other social networking tool I have been or currently am a part of. It’s an extremely powerful tool for folks like us AND businesses, and creates a level of instaneous intamacy with people I otherwise would barely know.
Already have met some great folks, attended the local Twestival here in Nashville – and have networked with some great local organizations and companies. So in a way, twestival saved my faith in social-networking.
Good stuff on your blog here – I encourage you to become a regular over in my neck of the woods: http://www.lifewithoutpants.com.
I signed up for Twitter over a year ago and basically only followed people I knew “in real life.” It was fun at first, but I realized that reaching people was a bit difficult within my network.
That’s the thing about Twitter — everyone is there for different reasons, but also the same reason: to connect with each other. I think that’s a good step for humanity, in general.
I’m checking out your blog right now!
I found your blog through Brazen, and was looking at it as I am sitting here, freaking out and annoyed because I also screwed something up with Wordpress (was trying to do the same thing as you!) and I was just about to email you to see how I can make my blog look EXACTLY LIKE YOURS. Already have the same layout/theme, but it’s not all updated and awesome. Is it wordpress.org that you used?
…. help?
Haha, I’d love to help.

I have only been on twitter for 2 weeks but it has connected me with a lot of people more so than being used as a business tool.
Isn’t it great!? I love it. I’m a strong believer in its power to connect for lots of different reasons and goals.
Thanks for reading!
I had technical issues setting up my blog and domain as well – wish I had had Twitter help! This is the 3rd pro-Twitter blog I read today, might have to sign up…
Oh, you have to sign up!
If you have any questions — please let me know. I’d be happy to help you out.
I love twitter
I have an etsy shop which I sometimes post my listings from. But mostly it’s the most inane things of my day or thoughts I’m thinking!
Or kind of like as a voyuer into others lives…that’s fun too
